Sleep Stories: Simplifying the Science of Sleep
Hello, hello and thank you so much for being here. I’m Kerry Davies, also known as The Sleep Fixer, and I’m so excited to welcome you to Sleep Stories.
I’ve been working in the world of sleep for almost 15 years, and over that time I’ve helped thousands of people understand, repair, and rebuild their relationship with sleep. One thing I’ve learned again and again is that storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to help people truly get it — to make the science feel human and relatable.
So that’s exactly what this podcast and this space are all about.
Why Sleep Stories Exists
We often make sleep feel bigger and more complicated than it needs to be. There’s so much advice, so many “rules,” and so much pressure to get it right, that can actually make sleep worse.
My aim is to take sleep back to basics:
To help you understand how your body and brain work together when you sleep.
To share real-life stories (always completely anonymised) of the people I’ve supported and what helped them.
To give you simple, evidence-based strategies that actually make a difference, without adding more to your to-do list.
When sleep becomes another “thing to fix,” it often adds more stress, which only keeps you awake. I want to help you remove that stress, understand the why behind what’s happening, and start making small, confident changes that bring calm back into your nights.
What You’ll Hear (and Read) About
In each episode of Sleep Stories, I’ll be diving into topics that affect both adults and children (from around 12 months upwards). You’ll hear about:
Real client experiences that show how small shifts can create big results.
The simple science behind sleep, explained in plain English.
How your daytime wellbeing impacts your nighttime rest.
The emotional side of sleep because our thoughts, routines, and even self-talk all play a part.
I’ll also be inviting other wellbeing experts to join me along the way, because sleep doesn’t exist in isolation. When we take care of our
whole selves, body, mind, and lifestyle — sleep naturally follows.
Let’s Keep It Simple
If there’s one message I want this series to bring, it’s this: you don’t need to try harder to sleep, you need to understand it better.
Sleep isn’t something to control or perfect; it’s something to allow. And once you understand the simple science behind it, you can stop fighting your sleep and start supporting it.
